So what does SustainablyWoke mean? Well, It's a bit of a subjective answer.
Lets start with being "Woke". There is no dictionary definition for it. If you know what it means then you are probably a woke millennial yourself. But for anyone who is wondering lets look at some different peoples own defintions:
Bri: "Self aware, knowing what going on in the world and how it affects you, knowing what you're worth and what you should and should not settle for"
Summer: "Someone who can understand what another person is going through aka political struggles and someone who understand culture"
Madi: "Alive, ready to go, lit"
Kira: "Aware of current events and understanding of different perspectives"
All of these definitions are different, which is why being "woke" is whatever you want it to mean to you.
But for us, being woke means that you have an understanding of what is going on in the world around you, greater than just in your own personal bubble. And beyond having an understanding, you have empathy for those things that are happening.
Putting SustainablyWoke together means that you are aware of what is happening with our environment. You seek out knowledge to know more than just what is right in front of you. Lastly, that you care enough about these issues to take action in any sort of way. The action could be as small as recycling your next coke bottle, using a reusable shopping bag at your next trip to the grocery store.
That is just our definition of being SustainablyWoke. Tell us below what it means to you!
